What will I learn?

From Mathematics to Medicinal Chemistry Biotechnology to Geography and Food Science to Photonics, the sheer range of specialisations available in the BSc(Hons) programme means you’re sure to find your niche. What’s more, you’ll be able to deepen your knowledge and skills in your specialist area. After graduating with a BSc(Hons), it’s possible to progress to a Master of Science (MSc) degree. If you achieve First or Second Class First Division Honours in your BSc(Hons), you’ll be eligible for direct entry to a PhD. Postgraduate study in Applied Mathematics focuses on mathematical and computational models to formulate and solve real-world problems from a variety of areas within science and technology. From analysing the most efficient way to schedule airline routes between cities, to the effects and safety of new drugs, applied maths is a good foundation to apply alongside many other sciences. You will learn how to build mathematical models, and how to formulate mathematical ideas for useful modeling, alongside learning about the solutions of models. Physiology explores how the body works. It provides a rational scientific basis for the treatment of disease. At the core of Physiology is the acquisition of knowledge by observation, experiment, and interpretation. Physiology is highly quantitative and has close links with biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, mathematical modeling, and pharmacology, as well as zoology and plant biology. A large part of medical research is centered on Physiology. It is an active and developing science that promises to be one of the most exciting disciplines for the foreseeable future.
