Summary
This qualification prepares students for a rewarding career in the field of early childhood teaching. NZTC students gain the skills and knowledge needed to practice with confidence in a diverse socio-cultural context and are eligible to apply for New Zealand teacher registration with the Education Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Field Practice
You will be required to complete 20 weeks of full-time Field Practice placements during the course of the degree program. This will consist of one four-week block in Stage 1 and two four-week blocks in Stage 2 and Stage 3. A total of 12 weeks can be carried out in a Home Centre (the main centre, at which you may already be employed) and eight weeks in a different centre.

Mode of learning
Blended Learning - This mode of learning blends the flexibility of online learning with face-to-face learning and practical experience, including tutorials, block courses, supervised field practice and work experience.
Students can start on any Monday.

Entry requirement for international students
All applicants must:
- Have University Entrance via either NCEA or CIE OR achieved an equivalent overseas high school diploma
- Demonstrate your ability to meet the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand's Good Character and Fit to be Teacher Policy (2007) criteria
- Declare any physical or learning disability, or diverse needs that may impact on your performance as a student
International students are required to provide proof of their English language competency by meeting the language criteria defined in Rule 18 of the NZQF Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules 2013 for a level 7 qualification.
