What will I learn?

The Certificate in Commerce (CertCom) is an option if you want to add commerce content alongside your non-commerce degree, or do not want to study the full Bachelor of Commerce degree. Study Involve: Enhance your business skills from accounting theories to marketing practices in our rapidly expanding world of commerce. Study four standard courses of your choice at 100, 200, and/or 300-level. The Certificate can be studied full-time in 6 months or part-time over 6 years. Studying this Certificate can be used as a pathway to the Diploma in Commerce or the Bachelor of Commerce. Economics is the study of how people behave and make decisions - how we use and allocate our resources, how we deal with issues like climate change, which career we choose, and more. These decisions involve trade-offs between costs and benefits, and we are constantly considering these in our everyday life. At UC, there are lots of opportunities to gain experience including industry projects, internships, clubs, and overseas study trips. Study Involve: Learn about the impact of your choices on the world, and how foreign countries impact Aotearoa New Zealand’s economy. Explore the three core areas of economics – Microeconomics (how individuals interact with markets), Macroeconomics (the economy as a whole, such as interest rates and exchange rates), and Econometrics (testing economic theories using data and other analytical methods). Option for a final-year internship as either a consultancy project working with an industry client or a work placement within an organisation. Economics major and minor is available in many degrees so you can combine studies with other relevant areas such as Finance, Product Design, Political Science and International Relations, and Psychology.
