If you are interested in languages and are studying an alternative degree programme at UC, you can do a course or two in your language of choice per year. The Certificate in Languages (CertLang) is also available to study part-time. Study Involve: Four courses at 100 and/or 200-level that can be completed in a minimum of 6 months full-time to 5 years part-time. Courses in the Certificate of Languages are introductory and no prior knowledge is required. Combine this Certificate with your other studies to gain knowledge in a language which can open up your future job prospects. Credits from this Certificate can be transferred to a Diploma in Languages or the Bachelor of Arts. Japan is one of the most influential nations in the Asia-Pacific region - culturally, economically, and diplomatically. The nation plays an important role in Aotearoa New Zealand’s economy and learning Japanese will be a great asset to your studies. Studies in Japanese involve more than just reading, writing, and speaking. It will also involve learning the culture and the impact it has on Aotearoa and the world. Study Involve: Become an expert in Japanese language, history, and culture. Exchange programmes with various universities throughout Japan including Waseda University, Bunkyo University, and Kwansei Gakuin University. Japanese can be studied as a major or minor in a range of bachelor's degrees, through a certificate or diploma in languages alone or alongside other studies, or as a single course.
