What will I learn?

The MProfStuds is a masters degree with a professional focus. It can be a useful way to continue your postgraduate study if you already have a masters degree. Specialisations available: Data Science, Digital Security, Education, Food Safety, Mathematics Education. Our professional programmes can sharpen the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue a career in your chosen field or progress your existing career. Completing an MProfStuds can make you readily identifiable as holding the skills to participate in your chosen field and contribute to its advancement. There are two different options to consider when choosing your postgraduate qualification in Data Science. The Master of Professional Studies specialising in Data Science concentrates on the application of data management and data analysis skills to a professional domain, such as business. The Master of Data Science is an advanced programme and takes the skills learned from your undergraduate degree in Data Science to the next level. You will be taught how to apply state-of-the-art techniques from computer science and statistics to real-world problems.

Entry requirements

For international students

120 points (Research / Taught):

You must have completed one of the following:

  • A four-year bachelors degree (which includes one year of postgraduate-level study)
  • A one-year postgraduate degree
  • A bachelors degree and a one-year professional qualification or three years professional experience relevant to the area that you would like to study.

You will need a GPE of at least 3.0 and for some specialisations a higher GPE will be required.

To enrol in the Education specialisation you need to have at least three years teaching experience.

To enrol in the Mathematics Education specialisation you need to have at least three years teaching experience and currently hold a teaching position.

To enrol in the Teaching Chinese in Schools specialisation you need to have attained a proficiency level in Chinese of at least HSK Level 5 or equivalent.
