What will I learn?

Learn the foundations of mechanical trades and how to safely use steel or plastics to create and maintain equipment across a diverse range of industries. In this year-long introductory course, our industry-expert tutors will guide you along the way. Our graduates work across a range of exciting industries within manufacturing, aviation, energy, boating, and many more.The course is designed to give you foundational knowledge, skills, and confidence. The next step if you are looking to become a fully-qualified tradesperson, is to complete an apprenticeship. Long term, after the completion of your apprenticeship, there are further opportunities to study at a higher level, such as the Mechanical Engineering Level 5, which is for advanced tradespeople looking at more specific roles. There are many different job opportunities for you to pursue in many industries, such as manufacturing, aviation, construction, and energy.

For international students

  • NCEA Level 1 with 10 credits in Numeracy (algebra, trigonometry, measurement recommended) and 10 credits in Literacy, or
  • Be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills.
