What will I learn?

Students will learn the core knowledge and practical skills required to meet the increasing demands and needs of the civil engineering industry. This two-year programme will provide students with theoretical and technical knowledge to apply practical solutions to the design, construction, and maintenance of civil engineering infrastructure, from roads and bridges to harbours and water and wastewater facilities. This engineering programme is accredited by Engineering New Zealand, a signatory of the Dublin Accord, meaning it is highly respected and recognised both nationally and internationally.

Entry requirements

For international students

Candidates are required to have gained:

  • Qualification equivalent to NCEA Level 2
  • Equivalent qualifications (e.g. International Baccalaureate or Cambridge); or
  • Equivalent credits from trades training and/or demonstrated skills and experience

Candidates who have English as a second language are required to have an International English Language Test System (IELTS) score of 6.0, with no individual band score lower than 5.5; or

  • TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) score of 60 (with a writing score of 18)
  • TOEFL Paper-based Test (pBT) score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE)
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) score of 50 with no band score lower than 42

*There may be different IELTS requirements depending on your chosen course.
