Postgraduate Certificate in Arts in Media and Communication: Fees & Entry Requirements at University of Canterbury, New Zealand

Postgraduate Certificate in Arts in Media and Communication

New Zealand

What will I learn?

Like most general Arts qualifications, there is a wide range of subject choice available at UC, with more than 30 subjects on offer – from Anthropology to Te Reo Maori. The great thing about the Postgraduate Certificate in Arts is that this qualification can be: completed in a relatively short period of time (6 months full-time study or 1 year part-time) studied part-time, which is ideal for those wishing to undertake professional development or to expand their disciplinary knowledge in a relevant field whilst working or supporting other commitments. PGCertArts students will be introduced to sophisticated subject matter and develop skills in the critical evaluation of academic literature in their discipline or area of specialisation. They will also foster high-level skills in critical thinking, problem solving, and communication. Postgraduate study in Media and Communication provides you the skills to understand and contribute to a range of communication fields at an advanced level. It opens up research opportunities on some of the most significant topics in society, politics, and culture, and also gives you the skills to work in the communication industry, from writing and creative to strategy and analysis roles. Choose either professional or research-focused qualifications. Study Involve: Combine study of communication theories with case studies, professional guests, skills training in analytical software, and your own research projects. Take part in small, discussion-based classes, where you learn alongside other students. Balance academic analysis with internships and applied research projects that embed you in the communication industry.
