What will I learn?

Master of Science in Computing programme is designed to enhance your knowledge and skills by providing you with a broad view of information systems, in addition to valuable hands-on experiences. If you are interested in developing new technologies and creating innovative applications, Master of Science in Computing will be ideal for you. Infocomm industry has been a key contributor to economic development and the driving force behind the fast growing knowledge-based economy in Singapore. Infocomm technologies are the foundation for many applications in industry, government and other institutions. Singapore needs to have an infocomm-savvy workforce and globally competitive infocomm manpower to sustain national economic competitiveness.

This programme is distinctive in its emphasis on industrial strength projects as an essential component of the curriculum. You will not only acquire knowledge in the classroom but also be expected to confidently and innovatively apply what you have learned.

While working with our partner centers/institutes, you will be challenged with real problems faced by today's industries, gaining highly sought-after application development and research experiences. The programme will provide students with hands-on research/application experience through strong collaboration with aligned institutes, centers and labs, e.g. the Living Analytics Research Centre (LARC).

We encourage individuals interested in technology related R&D to apply for a Technology Track in our Master of Science in Computing programme.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must have: Good undergraduate degree. A good score in GMAT or SMU Admissions Test. TOEFL/ IELTS is required if the medium of instruction of your undergraduate studies was not in English. It must be taken within the last 2 years at the time of submitting your application.

For international students

The minimum entry requirement for admission into this programme is a Bachelor degree with good honours in a relevant discipline. Candidates should be keen to pursue research at the intersection of IT and business.

Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the English language. Applicants whose medium of instruction for their Bachelor degree is not in English are required to submit TOEFL (international test) scores.

Students may choose to substitute TOEFL scores with IELTS scores. For applicants whose medium of instruction at the Bachelor’s level was not English. The tests must be taken within 2 years before the proposed date of admission.
