What will I learn?

Advanced Physiotherapy: Neurophysiotherapy MSc

This programme integrates the clinical, academic and research components of neurophysiotherapy practice, with an emphasis on the management of patients with neurological disorders. You will develop an understanding of evidence-based practice and develop as an advanced physiotherapy practitioner. You will be able to select from a wide range of modules according to your interest and complete at least one clinical placement. This programme offers you the opportunity to extend your knowledge of the key practical and theoretical aspects of neurophysiotherapy. You will challenge the foundations of established but poorly justified treatments, develop and undertake clinical research and learn about new and emerging treatment options. You will also benefit from the mentorship of recognised experts in neurophysiotherapy. Modules run over five to six consecutive working days. Full-time students generally take four modules per term. Part-time and modular/flexible students take one to three modules per term.

Careers

The programme will provide you with the skills and knowledge for a career in academia or research, or a more senior clinical or management position within your chosen career field. Recent physiotherapy graduates have pursued senior careers in healthcare policy, university lecturing, private practice, management or highly specialist clinical practice. Several past physiotherapy students have used the MSc successfully to gain funding for PhD studies.

Optional qualifications

This degree is also available as a PG Diploma and a PG Certificate with fees set accordingly.

This programme aims to transform the way you think about the theoretical foundation for neurophysiotherapy clinical practice and what defines expert patient care. The programme provides you with a rigorous, evidence-based training in best research and clinical practice, suitable for clinical, educational or research posts in physiotherapy.
