What happens on the course?
For students joining this course in 2025, the first year of study will take place at Telford Campus. The remaining years of the course will be completed at our City (Springfield) Campus.
The first year of study is very much about mastering the underpinning engineering principles, accompanied by an introduction to airframes and aircraft propulsion.
Year two combines mechanical engineering topics with specialist modules that include control and aircraft systems, and aircraft and space vehicle structures, together with legislation and regulation frameworks associated with the aerospace industry. You will also study engineering management and learn the role and responsibilities of a professional engineer.
The third year of study is again a mix of traditional mechanical engineering subjects, combined with specialist topics such as flight aerodynamics. This is developed further in the MEng to include flight dynamics and control and wind tunnel analysis and verification.
