What will I learn?

This course allows you to build your own personalised LLM programme. Choose from our wide range of specialist modules to study areas that interest you.

This LLM degree offers a wide variety of law modules in different specialist areas. There are options in:

  • corporate law
  • commercial law
  • competition law
  • international trade law
  • international civil and commercial litigation
  • international dispute resolution
  • international investment law
  • intellectual property law
  • insolvency law
  • digital evidence
  • environmental law
  • climate change law
  • water law
  • human rights law and corporate responsibility
  • private international law
  • privacy, cyber security and surveillance

In addition to specialist modules delivered by our staff, there are options in oil and gas or energy law. These are offered by the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy. You can also choose options from business, politics, international relations and geography.

Students also often combine topics from different legal areas. For example, you could combine an understanding of corporate and commercial law with environmental law. Or you could combine an understanding of commercial law with human rights law.

This wide choice of modules allows you to develop existing areas of specialisation. You can also expand your knowledge into new areas of law that you have not studied or practised before.

The Law (General) LLM is delivered through student-led seminars. Students must arrive prepared for class and will work together through the course content. Our lecturers will direct and support you.
