With our opportunities to build practical skills, confidence and employability, you'll stand out in a competitive jobs market. Alongside the seven foundation subjects of law, you’ll be able to study up to four optional specialist modules - allowing you the flexibility to really focus on what interests you. Choose from modules like Counter-Terrorism Law, Environmental Law and even Canadian Constitutional Law. Connect to the sector with placement schemes, law fairs, and visits to leading firms. All University of Birmingham law students are members of the Birmingham Law Society, the largest and most diverse Law society outside of London. Pursue your passions and tailor your undergraduate Law degree to suit your interests in your final year with our vast range of optional modules including topics such as Counter Terrorism Law, Advocacy and Employment Law in Practice. This accelerated undergraduate Law degree is particularly popular amongst international students, providing a competitive alternative for studying law. Students on this programme come from all over the world, including Canada and Nigeria. You’ll be assessed in different ways to suit each module. At the start of a module, you’ll be told how and when you’ll be assessed. Methods will vary but may include coursework (e.g., essays), group or individual presentations and projects, exams, reports or computer-based assignments.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants are expected to hold an Upper second-class Honours degree or its equivalent. The School does not require or consider the LNAT admissions test for entry onto its programmes and does not accept transfers from any other programme, including Law programmes. Applicants undertaking the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) who meet the offer criteria will receive the typical offer for their chosen programme, plus an alternative offer one grade lower alongside a grade A in the EPQ, applicable if Birmingham is made their firm choice. Similarly, applicants undertaking the Core Maths qualification who meet the offer criteria will receive the typical offer for their programme, plus an alternative offer one grade lower alongside a grade A in Core Maths, provided Birmingham is made their firm choice. However, those also studying A-level Maths will not be eligible for this alternative offer through Core Maths.

*There may be different IELTS requirements depending on your chosen course.
