What will I learn?

You'll be guided through all stages of the creative content-making process to complete a short film, documentary or full-length screenplay/script on this challenging course You will be taught and mentored by staff who are experienced in the film and TV industry and knowledgeable about its opportunities for employment and commissioning. They will use their extensive professional network to help you find opportunities and placements You will join a vibrant and supportive community of creative content makers, and be encouraged to experiment, take creative risks and find your talent and voice We have high-spec film-making equipment available for you to use, including RED and ARRI digital cameras and traditional celluloid or ‘35mm’ film. We are proud to partner with Soundsnap, home to one of the largest professional sound effects libraries in the world. Used by organisations such as the BBC, Apple, Disney, and HBO, Soundsnap provides our students with free access to a vast collection of high-quality, professionally curated audio to support their work in film editing, sound design, and post-production.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants are normally expected to hold an appropriate first degree in Film, Writing, or a related discipline with a minimum classification of 2:2, or a professional qualification of equivalent standing. Applicants with significant practical or professional experience gained after their initial qualification may also be considered. Depending on their qualifications, experience, and portfolio, candidates may be invited to attend an interview, either at the University or online, and should present their portfolio during this process. Additionally, applicants will be required to provide a plan outlining how they intend to use the duration of the MA to further develop their creative practice.
