What will I learn?

Performance is a broad subject area covering multiple strands of scholarship and practice. Research degrees in performance at UWS welcome and support challenging and wide-ranging projects that further current understanding of and approaches to performance and applied performance.Performance at UWS offers a rigorous, supportive, and challenging environment for research study. Our staff team are all research active and publish across a wide variety of subject areas, from decentred Shakespeare practice to modern slavery, performance philosophy, climate studies, applied performance and beyond.As a research student, you will be able to draw on established links across the Scottish and UK theatre landscapes and international networks. We are well placed to support interdisciplinary approaches to performance research and the application of performance methodologies to global challenges.

Entry requirements

For international students

The minimum entry requirement for registration to the degree of MRes, MPhil, or MRes/MPhil with the intention of transferring to PhD is a first or second-class Honours degree from a UK university or an equivalent qualification. Applicants with other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis, taking into account the nature and scope of the proposed programme of work.
