Unlike an MBA, which is aimed at developing broader knowledge and understanding of various aspects of business operations, and is generally seen as the critical qualification for general management, an MSc is a more specialised qualification that focuses on a particular aspect of a business, such as operations or marketing. The MSc Data Analytics acknowledges the major changes in approaches to operations, risk management and marketing driven by ''big data'', and the related internet and computerised technologies that support such evolutions, including AI and Industry 5.0, leading to roles such as Chief Data Officer.
