Course info

Summary

This teacher training programme will enable you to teach across the curriculum in two consecutive primary school age ranges, with either French, German or Spanish as a specialist subject.

As well as general teacher training, you’ll also receive specialist training in language teaching at primary level. This will include topics such as language curriculum design, working with parents to support language learning, bilingualism, how to teach languages in conjunction with other curricular areas, and how to help students transition their language learning from primary to secondary school.

You will take part in a school placement where you'll teach French, German or Spanish alongside all other curriculum areas. The majority of placements are in London and offer an excellent introduction to teaching in socially mixed, multi-ethnic, urban classrooms. This experience is both exciting and challenging and will help you earn to reflect systematically and critically on your classroom performance.
