What will I learn?

Learn how agriculture and its environment should be adapted to future change with a Master’s in Sustainable Agriculture from an award-winning institute.

This MSc in Sustainable Agriculture is designed for graduates and professionals seeking expertise in sustainable food production. You will build a strong understanding of crop production and how crops adapt to climate and environmental change and learn to design productive farming systems that reduce pressure on natural resources. Although the focus is on tropical and developing countries, the approaches you study are relevant worldwide.

The course integrates natural, social and economic sciences and draws on the world‑leading expertise of the award‑winning Natural Resources Institute. Teaching covers crop production, pest and disease management, postharvest technologies, climate adaptation and agricultural economics, supported by real global case studies and opportunities to contribute to current research. Students benefit from small classes, close supervision and access to advanced research facilities on the Medway Campus.

Graduates progress into roles in international development, sustainable agriculture, food security, climate resilience, research and NGO project management. Many go on to work with governments, global development agencies, research institutes and environmental organisations, or continue into PhD study in agriculture, sustainability or environmental sciences.

Students benefit from secure university accommodation located on or near campus, creating a comfortable and supporting living environment. The active Students’ Union offers events, societies and dedicated support services, helping you feel part of a vibrant and welcoming community.
