The Journalism Department offers practical newspaper experience and academic preparation for students preparing to transfer to four-year institutions. Emphasis is placed on new technologies and preparation for media jobs in a computer-oriented society. Additional areas of study include journalism history, ethics, law, and the role of the press in our society.Program Learning Outcomes - Assemble a portfolio of appropriate photographs, writings, journals or digital media that reflects the skills and understanding of techniques of journalism, 2Write news, features, and opinion pieces in newspaper style, Apply media law, fact-checking and ethics to the journalistic process.
