The history major challenges the intellect, inspires the imagination, and stimulates analytical thinking. Historical knowledge provides a valuable background for students considering careers in law, journalism, library and museum work, education, business, and local, state, national, and international public service. Students of history contribute anywhere that a knowledge of domestic and foreign affairs is required, and, of course, to the profession of historical research and teaching.Undergraduate Academic ProgramsThe faculty of history offer courses leading to the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in history.Program Learning OutcomesStudents who complete the undergraduate program in history will:Historical Comprehensiona. Analyze the literal and contextual significance of a historical passage. b. Identify the central questions in historical narratives.c. Articulate historical perspectives. Historical Analysis and Interpretationa. Compare and contrast opposed and/or multiple sets of ideas, interpretations, values, personalities, behaviors and/or institutions.b. Assess competing historical narratives. c. Hypothesize the impacts and significance of past events.Historical Research Capabilitiesa. Articulate historical questions. b.
