What will I learn?

The French Teaching Certification emphasis at Pittsburg State University prepares students to become French language teachers in K-12 public school settings. The program develops the teaching knowledge and skills needed to create supportive and engaging learning environments while providing students with a deeper understanding of Francophone cultures that they can share with their future students. As part of their practical preparation, students spend their final semester teaching under the supervision of an experienced, licensed teacher. The program also offers a Modern Languages Retro-Credits Program that may provide credit for significant prior French language experience gained through high school coursework or language spoken at home, subject to consultation with Modern Languages faculty.
