As a physics major you will have the opportunity to study all aspects of the physical universe through means of observation, experimentation, theoretical constructions and computer simulations. Undergraduate students at Michigan State University can choose to pursue a physics major for the completion of either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree.
The Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in physics is for students who wish to pursue a physics major combined with a broader education in the liberal arts than the Bachelor of Science degree program permits. This degree program is also suitable for students who plan to meet the requirements for teacher certification.
The Bachelor of Science degree with a major in physics is designed to provide a thorough foundation in the field of physics together with considerable background in mathematics and a balanced program in the liberal arts. It is designed for those with an interest in experimental physics as a preparation for positions in government and industry and for graduate study. Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in physics may also complete this major through Lyman Briggs College.
