What will I learn?

Mathematics is a rich, engaging field with powerful applications to other subjects and modern open questions. Mathematics is not just a body of knowledge but a process of analysis, reasoning, comparison, deduction, generalization, and problem-solving. Mathematicians are trained in the ability to solve complex problems and to explain the solutions to others. Solving these problems requires creativity that involves analyzing both concrete and abstract situations, relating them to mathematical ideas and models, and applying mathematical techniques to discover solutions and build relevant models. Earn your bachelor's in mathematics and master's in secondary education in less time than it would take to complete both degrees separately. The Mathematics Program offers a Baccalaureate to Masters Program option in association with the Education Department for Lewis University undergraduate mathematics majors interested in secondary education licensure. All qualified mathematics majors may take advantage of this Baccalaureate to Masters Program option. This program option allows qualified undergraduates to complete the M.A. in Secondary Education in less time than would be possible if the two programs were taken separately. Nine graduate hours may be used both to complete the Bachelor’s degree (120 hours) and to satisfy specific course requirements for the Master’s program. The total number of required graduate credits (38) will remain the same.
