What will I learn?

In the Acting concentration, you’ll develop your craft through a variety of courses, including acting techniques (including Stanislavski, Meisner and Viewpoints), vocal techniques (including Linklater and Skinner), physical performance and acting for the camera. Throughout our program, you’ll have opportunities to work on a range of productions, from contemporary plays to Shakespearean classics. And that’s not just on our own stages. Our students are involved with all of the city’s professional theatre companies, including the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, First Stage, Skylight Music Theatre and more.Our BFA in Theatre Performance is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in all aspects of theatre performance. From exploring the canon of dramatic European literature in fresh and innovative ways to collaborating on new works – you’ll gain experience in it all. Plus, we prepare you for professional internships and auditions, so you graduate with a wide range of tools to excel in the industry.

Entry requirements

For international students

All applicants whose native language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency in one of the following ways: An approved test score that meets the requirement for regular or conditional admission. University study: Completion of at least 18 months of full-time, for-credit academic study (approximately three semesters) at a recognized or accredited institution of higher education whose language of instruction is English immediately prior to enrollment at UWM. Secondary/high school study: Proof of completion of the last two years of secondary/high school at an institution whose language of instruction is English immediately prior to enrollment at UWM. TOEFL IBT - 79 or higher, TOEFL PBT - 548 or higher, IELTS - 6.5
