The Bachelor of Music in Music Education with emphasis in Songwriting and Production is a four-year degree plan that provides a path toward K-12 teaching licensure for active composers, arrangers, producers and sound engineers who are interested in a career in music teaching at the elementary and secondary levels. This degree includes the full complement of Music Education, Core Musicianship, Professional Education and General Studies courses that are currently required for CCPA teacher licensure programs in the state of Illinois- ensuring the opportunity for employability after graduation. Students take studio lessons with top faculty in songwriting and music production, learn the most up-to-date music technology, and study Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) processes. Learn piano accompaniments, vocal warmups and choral arrangements for school repertory numbers so that you’re immediately prepared for your first semester as a teacher.

Entry requirements
For international students
A freshman applicant is defined as an individual who has completed or will complete a high school degree or its equivalent and has fewer than 12 transferrable college credit hours. The admission requirements for freshman applicants are as follows: Roosevelt requires applicants to attain a cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 2.0 for at least 3 years of study. Self-reported information is accepted for most programs but an official transcript will be required if you are admitted to Roosevelt University. If you took dual enrollment classes at your local community college as part of your high school diploma, you will need to submit transcripts from your community college in addition to your high school transcripts. Roosevelt is test-optional. If you have taken the ACT or SAT we encourage you to send your scores, though these are not required for admission.
