The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Linguistics is a collaborative program of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering designed to prepare students to pursue technical or professional careers in arts and sciences areas requiring a sound grounding in computer science. It is designed to meet an increasing demand for programming skills in various disciplines that include an aspect of language. This may include speech recognition, speech synthesis, machine-human interaction, narrative science/natural language generation, or more direct work with language analysis using computational tools, including documentation of indigenous languages, language learning, communication, and digital humanities and textual analyses.
The BS in Computer Science plus Linguistics requires coursework in both computer science and linguistics as well as courses necessary to complete the General Education and Writing-in-the-Discipline requirements of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. High school graduates who have never attended another college or university must submit evidence of graduation from an accredited high school or submit passing scores on the General Educational Development (GED) test.
They must have obtained TOEFL iBT - Total Score 80; IELTS Overall Score - 6.5 with a score of subsection minimum as follows: listening 6, writing 6, reading 6, and speaking 6, PTE with a score of 54 (with subsection minimum as follows: listening 47, writing 56, reading 51, and speaking 53).
Application deadline: Fall - First Year Early Action - November 1st, First Year Regular Decision - February 1st. Spring - First Year Regular Decision - October 1st.
