What will I learn?

The combined degree for a BS in Criminal Justice and Masters (MA) in Homeland Security enables to students obtain both degrees in five (5) years. This will allow students to grasp the essence of the criminal justice system and, in light of 9/11, gain insight on how to secure our country and communities. Pace University’s CRJ/MA education experience prepares students to succeed in all levels of government, from a police officer, up through the multitude of law enforcement agencies at the state and federal levels. Full-time students may complete this accelerated dual-degree program in five years by taking 12 graduate credits in their undergraduate senior year. To enter the program, students must apply to Graduate Admissions in the Fall of their Junior year, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and submit an essay that will be used to assess their writing skills. If accepted, in the Spring of their junior year they will be required to enroll in the zero (0) credit Online Orientation course (CRJ 600). Students enrolled in the CRJ Major will be able to enroll in the MA in HS starting in their senior year. The Criminal Justice BS/MHS is a 4+1 Sequential degree program. Once students complete their undergraduate requirements, they will walk for their Baccalaureate degree and again when they receive their graduate degree.

For international students

Official transcripts, diplomas, and leaving examination scores from secondary and post-secondary schools (in English). Send a photocopy or fax of your valid passport/national identity card displaying your photo and name. Two letters of recommendation (PDF) from a teacher or counselor who knows you well and can attest to your academic potential and personal characteristics. Letters of recommendation are not required for international transfer students. One essay/personal statement, approximately 250-650 words in length, which will assist the Admission Committee in reviewing your application. The essay/personal statement you submit must consist solely of your own original work.We also consider the GPA (Grade Point Average) that is indicated on your high school transcript. We generally look for students in the top 50% of their class. For schools that don't use a ranking system, we consider a 2.5 GPA or higher to be the equivalent. Finally, the Office of International Admissions conducts a holistic review of each application that includes a careful review of the following documents; letters of recommendation, personal statement / essay, and extracurricular activities.
