Family and consumer sciences (FCS) educators prepare youth and adults with essential life and career skills that strengthen individuals, families and communities. In this program, you will learn how to teach courses in nutrition and wellness, culinary arts, child development, family relations, personal finance, apparel and interior design and other areas that prepare students for success in their personal lives and future careers. You will explore the latest instructional methods, technologies and hands-on approaches used in today’s FCS classrooms while designing engaging, practical learning experiences. Graduates of this program teach in high schools, technical and vocational schools and community colleges, and they may also work in community education programs, workforce development or nonprofit organizations.
