What will I learn?

As a mathematics major, you’ll get a broad education in both theoretical and applied mathematics. You’ll also gain the scientific knowledge and the problem-solving, computing, and communication skills critical to a successful career.
Math majors chose from four concentrations: Math, Continuous Applied Math, Discrete Applied Math, or Statistics and Operations Research.
Math majors are great at logical reasoning, problem-solving, and abstract thinking. Math majors are in great demand and often earn higher salaries than graduates with other STEM degrees. Majoring in math at Rose-Hulman will prepare you for graduate study or a rewarding career in many different fields, including medicine, aerospace, insurance, government service, entertainment, and much more. Entry requirements

For international students

Incoming students are expected to complete the following high school courses: Four years of Mathematics; Four years of English; Lab sciences in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. If English is not your native language: TOEFL Minimums - 88 Internet Based with a minimum of 20 in each area. IELTS Minimums - 6.5 or above with a minimum of 6.0 in each area. Duolingo Minimums - score of 110 or above. Exemption from the TOEFL/IELTS requirement is provided to students who score highly enough on the SAT or ACT standardized test. This exemption will be provided to students who have achieved one of the following score(s): 500 or higher on the SAT Evidence-based Reading and Writing section; 21 or higher on the ACT English section. All other international applicants for whom English is a second language are required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores.
