What will I learn?

The Bachelor of Science in Public Health program focuses on protecting and improving the health of populations – from neighborhoods to nations - through education, promoting healthy lifestyles, and research for disease and injury prevention. Coursework covers many public health topics and a student-selected ''track'' of interest: community health education or health administration. Students are prepared for entry-level positions in public health settings or continuing education. Public health majors gain valuable, real-world experience through their chosen internships. In addition, students can further develop their leadership skills by participating in student organizations (such as Eta Sigma Gamma or the Health Administration Student Organization) or collaborating with faculty to research current population health issues.

EMU admits students on a sliding scale based primarily on a combination of high school grade point average. If you have a high GPA, you may be admitted even if your test score is below our average. If you have a high test score, you may be admitted with a lower-than-average GPA.
