What will I learn?

The Master of Science in Civil Engineering is designed to meet the needs of students who wish to prepare for careers in areas, such as construction and project management, design and analysis of complex systems (including structures, such as tall buildings and bridges), geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, water resources engineering, transportation engineering, consulting and research as well as doctoral studies. The areas of focus at the graduate level in the Civil Engineering program are structural, geotechnical, environmental, construction, water resources and transportation engineering. Most course topics are well integrated with computer-aided analysis and design tools. Many graduate students participate in one or more research projects before graduation. Several of the program’s graduate students have co-authored research papers with faculty members. The primary goal of the Civil and Environmental Engineering department’s degree program is to provide students with the educational background and tools required for them to excel in their intended profession in Civil Engineering. The areas of focus in the civil engineering program are structural, geotechnical, water resources, environmental, construction, transportation and architectural engineering.
