What will I learn?

Lawrence Technological University's Doctor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (DEME) can prepare you to work at the highest levels of the engineering profession and develop strong skills as a life-long learner.

The DEME is designed to provide you with the professional skills to:

  • Expand your knowledge of specific technical disciplines in your field of study
  • Apply advanced scientific principles in solving engineering challenges
  • Enhance your leadership and management abilities
  • Prepare you to perform independent research

At LTU, you will learn from highly qualified faculty with extensive professional experience, many of whom currently work in industry. These experts possess an abundance of real-world experience to enhance your learning.

The DEME program also draws practicing engineers from around the world who represent many leading manufacturers and suppliers, exposing you to exceptional networking opportunities.

Most DEME candidates have two advisors: an academic advisor who provides state-of-the-art knowledge about engineering principles and an industrial advisor who provides significant industrial experience and support. This signature “theory and practice” education makes LTU graduates some of the most sought-after engineers in the area.

The DEME program also is designed to accommodate your busy schedule. All core courses have sections offered in the evening, giving you the greatest flexibility.
