Help Shape Future Generations As one of New England’s premier educational leadership programs, JWU’s Educational Leadership Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree will develop your leadership capacity and teach you how to advance change in PK-12 and higher education settings. You’ll build the skills to promote excellence and create positive and necessary change in educational institutions. Our Educational Leadership program exemplifies the university’s mission of blending academic and work-based learning for career advancement. It’s tailored for those with a master’s degree and several years of experience working in either elementary/secondary or higher education. In this practice-focused doctoral program, you’ll have the opportunity to learn with a cohort of talented practitioners while building research, leadership and dispositional skills to support career advancement and impactful change. Choose from three Ed.D. options: the Elementary-Secondary Education and Higher Education tracks beginning each fall, or the Health Professions Ed.D. program, launching in Fall 2027.

Entry requirements

For international students

An accurate and complete graduate application. All schools attended must be listed, with dates of attendance. All postsecondary (college or university) transcripts, marks sheets, diplomas or certificates. Post-secondary qualifications include associate degree, diploma, certificate, bachelor's degree, post-graduate diploma and master's degree. All non-English credentials must be accompanied by certified word-for-word translations. Two letters of recommendation A statement of purpose A résumé or CV English Language Proficiency test results (if applicable or available, please see English Proficiency Requirements) Candidates with postsecondary coursework from an institution outside the United States who wish to transfer graduate level courses must submit to Johnson & Wales University all official documentation and must request (after acceptance) a course-by-course evaluation from World Education Services Inc. (WES), ECE Dispatch or another recognized credential evaluation service. Note that all non-English documents must be accompanied by certified word-for-word English translations. In certain circumstances we may require course descriptions and/or syllabi (subject details, module descriptors or content outline). Those with coursework in progress must submit final updated official documentation as soon as it becomes available.
