What will I learn?

Rivier offers the M.A.T. Middle/Secondary Social Studies program in two tracks-one for current teachers and the other for career changers. In this program, current teachers will enhance their teaching knowledge and skillsets, while those new to teaching will receive preparation for certification to teach social studies in grades 5–12. For current teachers, this degree increases classroom competencies, their knowledge of the learner, knowledge of pedagogy, and knowledge of social studies. Prospective teachers will deepen their knowledge of social studies topics and develop teaching strategies and skills for classroom success. In the M.A.T. Middle/Secondary Social Studies program, you will: Become an effective educator and communicator Connect theory with practice for classroom success Develop your critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants must have Official transcript(s) from Undergraduate study. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is expected for acceptance into our graduate programs.

Our minimum acceptable scores for standard English tests are TOEFL (61), IELTS (5.5), PTE (43).
