What will I learn?

The M.A. in Communication is a 36-hour, non-thesis program designed to equip students for careers in strategic corporate communications, public relations, consulting, advertising, marketing, media, education, communications, and related fields. Core classes impart the understanding of communication theory and the avenues through which all communication contexts are delivered or received. The Master of Arts in Communication program conveniently combines in-class, hybrid, and online opportunities to be flexible with your busy schedule. Our faculty and professors bring with them a unique combination of field experience and vocational calling, making them exceptional examples from which to learn.

Entry requirements

For international students

A Bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by a DOE recognized Institutional Accrediting Agency;

Evidence of sound moral character and compatibility with DBU's mission;

A likelihood of academic success as demonstrated by a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale in all previous coursework;

Two recommendation forms from non-family members;

A current professional resume.

Additional conditions of full admission may be specified by individual degree programs and/or the Master's Degrees Admission Committee.

English Proficiency Test Scores (good for 2 years after test date)

  • TOEFL - 79 (internet or paper)
  • IELTS (Academic) - Overall Band: 6.0 (No section band lower than 5.5)
  • PTE (Academic) - 53
  • CAE - 169
  • MET - 65
  • iTEP - 3.9
  • DET - 110 (No sub score lower than 90)
