What will I learn?

Ball State’s masters in counseling is a flexible, challenging program that prepares you to become a counseling professional dedicated to helping people and making the world a better and more just place. We offer this program in two concentrations: clinical mental health counseling or rehabilitation counseling. This concentration prepares you to be a licensed mental health counselor. This concentration requires you to earn a total of 60 credits from courses in counseling and psychology, including practica and internship. After completing the program, you will be eligible for licensure as a mental health counselor in the state of Indiana and other states.

Entry requirements

For international students

To be eligible for regular admission for a licensure, graduate certificate, or master's degree program, you must meet one of the criteria below - earned a minimum of a 2.75 GPA from your undergraduate degree-granting institution. Earned at least 9 graduate credit hours with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. Have a conferred master's or doctoral degree from an institution recognized by an USDE accrediting association.At Ball State, we have two tiers of admission criteria for international students who wish to pursue a graduate degree: Minimum standards for International Admissions and the Graduate School:NACES member credential evaluation for transcripts from non-U.S. institutionsProof of English proficiency: Ball State University recommends all graduate applicants to demonstrate English proficiency unless eligible for a waiver.
