What will I learn?

The Department of Theatre and Dance seeks dance artists with diverse interests and backgrounds to apply for our new practice-based, creative research oriented MFA. Students will focus on embodied inquiry through choreographic creation and performance, while engaging with a comprehensive core curriculum of practice and theory courses that emphasize the development of the whole artist, body and mind. With close faculty mentorship and numerous opportunities to create and present work, students will cultivate the knowledge and skills necessary to become the next generation of innovative dance makers, leaders, teaching-artists, and artist-scholars.

To be eligible for graduate study at UB, we expect:

A bachelor's degree, or the equivalent, from an accredited/government recognized college or university. Most such degrees will be four or more years in length; UB recognizes some three-year degrees, but not all.
A B-grade (GPA of 3.0) or higher from your bachelor's degree (or equivalent) courses. Grade point averages from non-U.S. universities will be evaluated by UB's Office of International Admissions.
Appropriate standardized test scores (GRE, GMAT, LSAT, etc.). Not all programs require test scores.
Letters of recommendation.
