What will I learn?

The environmental sciences program cultivates students’ perspectives of environmental issues and provides them with refined knowledge of environmental issues at the local, regional and global level. SIUE’s master’s program in environmental sciences with an emphasis in environmental chemistry and toxicology examines the behavior and effects of contaminants in environmental and biological systems. Coursework highlights the chemical, physical, and biological interactions of pollutants across soil, water, and atmospheric systems, along with their impacts on ecosystems and human health. The program integrates environmental management and policy, preparing students to communicate scientific findings and assess exposure and risk associated with natural and anthropogenic chemicals.
