At CAPLA, we're pushing urban planning education, research and practice in new and exciting directions--and students from diverse backgrounds are at the heart of our award-winning and engaging work.Our flexible and interdisciplinary curriculum provides students with an opportunity to specialize in two of four concentration areas while obtaining a foundational background in planning theory and practice. MS Urban Planning students choose nine credits of primary concentration courses and six credits of secondary concentration courses from two of four focus areas. Selecting areas of concentration allows for greater student engagement with specialized faculty while providing an in-depth exploration of content, methods and applications specific to a desired professional focus. Full-time planning students typically complete the program in two years.

Entry requirements
For international students
Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited United States college or university, or equivalent in a non-US institution of higher learning. The undergraduate degree can be in any field of study. A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 in the last 90 graded quarter credit hours or last 60 graded semester credit hours is required. Applicants who do not meet the required 3.0 GPA can apply as Graduate Non-Degree Seeking. After completion of 12 consecutive semester units of 500 level courses, and a 3.0 GPA or higher, applicants can apply as graduate degree seeking using their graduate GPA.
