What will I learn?

This degree program leads to initial teaching licensure (leading to teaching certification). Graduates of this program earn a Bachelor’s Degree in English Education and a concurrent major in English. It prepares students to teach English in grades 6-12.

A minimum of 120 credit hours is required for this degree program. All major courses must be passed with a grade of C or better. A minimum UW cumulative GPA of 2.75 is required for most junior and senior level professional education courses, including EDSE 4500 Residency in Teaching. A minimum GPA of 2.50 in major content courses is required. A minimum of 42 credits must be upper-division.

A cumulative, unweighted high school GPA of 3.00-4.00 (on a 4.0 scale) for assured admission.

A cumulative, unweighted high school GPA of 2.50-2.99 (on a 4.0 scale) is admitted with support.

Minimum score 71 for iBT/ 6.0 IELTS / 169 Cambridge English B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency / 100 Duolingo are the most popular exam options and results required.
