What will I learn?

This degree is taught in ASU’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, which is internationally ranked for the quality of its teacher preparation programs. In fact, ASU began as an institution for training teachers. The Bachelor of Arts program in social and cultural analysis with a concentration in ethnicity, race and Indigenous studies combines transdisciplinary topics and methods for critical analysis of relationships among individuals, groups, institutions, governments, economies and environments. The program enriches the study of individual racialized and Indigenous groups by drawing on theories, methods and pedagogies in ethnicity, race and Indigenous studies while engaging complementary fields of literature, history, sociology, oral history, sexuality, queer studies, social justice, and transnational and cultural studies. Coursework grounds students in a deep understanding of the particular historical, social, economic, cultural and political experiences of individual racialized groups as well as in an analysis of the relationships among them.
