Other eligibility requirements

ISLA, formerly known as the International Secondary School Merit Scholarship (ISSMS), is for undergraduate international students enrolling in a post-secondary institution for the first time. Applicants must be starting their first year of a full-time 4-year (or 5 year co-op) undergraduate degree at TMU and paying international student fees. It's for students who do well academically, volunteer, join clubs and show leadership qualities.

ISLA for fall 2026 has a value of $10,000 CAD for up to 53 recipients. This award is entrance-only and is non-renewable.

Key points to remember:

• You must be an international student starting your first year of a Canadian post-secondary institution on a full-time basis.
• You must be required to pay international tuition fees.
• You must have a final admission average of at least 86%, an A, or an equivalent.
• You must write a personal statement for submission.
• If a gap year was taken, it must be no longer than one academic year.
