ITE – FES (further education and skills). ITE bursaries are only available for the subjects in this table, for courses starting in the 2026 to 2027 academic year.
Important information: Bursary funding is not guaranteed as they are provided by DfE with limited funds, and are allocated on a first come basis. Bursary applications are submitted to DfE by the university on behalf of the trainee. Eligible trainees must submit their bursary claim form and evidence to the university as soon as possible to avoid missing out. Tutors will provide guidance on how to do this. Partner college trainees must liaise with their college tutors to submit their form and evidence.
The pre-service bursaries are a tax-free cash incentive paid to individual trainees while completing a specified teaching qualification (Level 5 or above) for the FE and skills sector and are available in the following subjects:
Mathematics - £31,000
Science (including chemistry, physics and biology) - £31,000
Engineering (and/or manufacturing) - £31,000
Computing - £31,000
Special Education Needs and disabilities (SEND) - £15,000
English (capped at 100 places) - £10,000
