PhD Bursary

Other eligibility requirements

The PhD Bursary is available to home and international students enrolling on a full-time PhD course in 2026/27.

The bursary consists of a £500 fee reduction in your first year of study and for each subsequent year of study, subject to successful progression, up to a maximum of 4 years.

Please note the bursary may only be applied to one course and you cannot be in receipt of any other scholarship or bursary.

Eligibility Criteria

1.1 The PhD Bursary is available to PhD students enrolled on a full-time PhD Programme at the University in 2026/2027. All applicants must:

(a) be and remain enrolled on a full-time PhD Programme;

(b) not be in receipt of any other University bursary, scholarship, fee waiver or discount (excluding hardship funds) during your studies on the PhD Programme;  

(c) have no outstanding debt owed to the University at the time the PhD Bursary is applied for and throughout your period of study of the PhD Programme;

(d) meet the admission and academic requirements of the University;

(e) remain in good academic standing, including academic progression, throughout your period of study;

(f) demonstrate good studentship throughout your period of study;

(g) comply with the University’s policies, regulations and codes of conduct; and

(h) not be subject to disciplinary or misconduct investigation, sanction or finding under the University’s policies or regulations.

1.2 Eligibility for the PhD Bursary is determined by the University at its sole discretion.

1.3 The award and availability of the PhD Bursary are at the sole discretion of the University. The University reserves the right to withdraw the PhD Bursary scheme at any time.

1.4 The PhD Bursary will be applied automatically to all eligible PhD students for their first year of study on the University’s PhD Programme.
