Excellent programs

UCI is a good school. And despite what everyone thinks, it most definitely is not a school of UCB and UCLA rejects. Many of the students that go to this school regard it as a place offering excellent programs that are easily accessible such as research, teacher contact, etc, as opposed to such crowded and competitive places such as Cal.

Good school

UCI is a good school. Their School of Humanities offers great classes and helpful, accessible faculty. You have to find your niche on campus, whether it be clubs or Greek life. The school, however isn't totally lacking in social interaction. Will recommend for students who genuinely want to get a degree and not for those who party all the time.

Right decision

When I was choosing schools I was deciding between Berkeley and UCI, and ultimately chose UCI because I believed it would be a better fit for my particular goals. I have only been here for 1 quarter so far, but I think I made the right decision.

College is what you make it to be

College is what you make it to be. This is a University and not vocational school. Its purpose is not to prepare you for a job. It is to stimulate your mind. Take advantage of the opportunity and engage in research. The negative image of UCI mainly came from people that want to be spoon fed. If you are destined to be a rocket scientist, you will as long as you put an effort into it. You will not succeed if you don't try.

Small school

It's been almost eight years since I graduated from UC Irvine with a B.A. in Sociology. I must say that my four years at UC Irvine were filled with fond memories. Best wishes in your future endeavor. Which ever school you decide on, always remember to make the most of your experience(s) by balancing your time between studying, making friends and participating in all the activities your school has to offer.

Good school

The Humanities school is understandably underrated, given that UCI is known for the sciences, but if you're one of those people looking only at small-liberal arts colleges, you should definitely consider UCI because the Humanities program is ranked as one of the best in the nation.

Decent

What can I say? I just got in and am starting tomorrow. I went to the summer session here and the people there seem rather friendly and very approachable contrary to the belief that this school harbors many students who merely stay with their high school friends.

Wonderful place

University of California Irvine is a great school! I actually decided to go here "by accident" (it's a long story), turning down many "better" schools. At first, my opinions of Irvine were not very high, but honestly, I don't think University of California Irvine gets the recognition it deserves. If you are considering University of California Irvine, I hope you visit the campus, see the environment and meet the people. It is really a wonderful place to be.
