Aston, a research-led university, was founded in 1895. It has been recognised as a University since 1966 and is renowned for its excellent teaching quality and significant ties to industry, government and commerce. Based in the city centre of Birmingham, it boasts a 40-acre campus with academic, social and accommodation facilities. The University’s student population of 10,500 comes from more than 130 countries.

Assessed on a basis of graduate prospects, teaching and student satisfaction, Aston University is ranked 32nd in the UK in the Complete University Guide 2016. It also has several subjects ranking in the top ten including Pharmacology & Pharmacy (8th), Marketing (6th) and Optometry (1st). It is ranked 33rd in the 2016 Guardian rankings.

Aston's four Schools of Study offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes and also work with the public and private sectors to develop tailored Foundation Degree programmes. Most of the bachelor’s degrees offer students the choice to study sandwich courses, which include a paid work placement or a study year at a partner institution abroad. The work placement provides students the opportunity to put knowledge into practice whilst gaining valuable professional experience to enhance employment prospects.

Aston Graduates are highly sought after by many major international companies, and the University is consistently at the top of the league tables for graduate employment.   The University is currently ranked 8th overall for graduate employment putting even the likes of Oxford in the shade (2013 Sunday Times University Guide). The University is consistently ranked in the UK's top 40 universities confirming its place amongst the elite.

Aston’s enthusiasm for research and passion for innovation have made a tremendous impact on industry and society. The practical application of the University’s case studies has revolutionised business undertakings. Innovative business models and processes have been discovered to face challenges of the modern business world.  In the REF 2014 (Research Exercise Framework), Aston was rated a Top 20 UK university for Research Impact and the University received  ‘world leading’ and ‘internationally excellent’ accreditation for nearly 80 per cent of its overall research.

Learn about other cultures

I would advise students not just stay in their room to study, need to go out with friends with different culture background. In studying, team work is really important in the university.

If you are studying right now or you have completed your studies, then help future students by sharing your experiences.
