Bath Spa University is a progressive and future-focused institution, which works hard to be a leader in sustainable development and practices. Its semi-rural Newton Park location offers students a closer connection with the countryside and natural landscapes than most UK universities, and the recent major developments in campus infrastructure have been carried out in accordance with rigorous environmental considerations.
The university has recently been named as the seventeenth most environmentally friendly university in the UK in the People & Planet University League 2023/24, in recognition of its sustainability credentials.
People & Planet is the largest student environmental campaigning network in the country, and surveys more than 150 universities across 14 key areas, including waste and recycling, sustainable food, energy sources, water reduction, and staff and student engagement.
The university retained its impressive 100 percent record for environmental auditing and management systems and was also assessed at 100 percent in the staff and HR category. Bath Spa is dedicated to improving its performance in all 14 key areas, and is implementing a new Sustainability Policy in an effort to be one of the first UK universities to achieve net zero.
