Manchester Metropolitan offers a wide range of foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research courses. All programmes are enriched by the university’s extensive research activities and many have been developed with businesses and industry professionals.
There are several routes open to students who don’t have the entry requirements for direct entry onto undergraduate or postgraduate programmes. Foundation courses provide students with the level of knowledge needed to secure a place at Manchester Metropolitan University. Students can also opt to take preparation courses that lead to the second year of undergraduate courses and to postgraduate programmes.
Pre-sessional English courses and free English language support is available for international students who do not meet the English language requirements of their degree course. The intensive programmes prepare students for study in the UK and are available at various start dates throughout the year.
The university has collaborative teaching partnerships where Manchester Metropolitan University degrees are delivered with local partners and it has student exchange agreements with over 150 partners worldwide and international research collaborations.

The School of Digital Arts (SODA) is a GBP35 million investment to develop the next generation of creative talent and support the demand for skilled workers in the creative, digital and tech sectors.
SODA will accommodate over 1,000 students annually with subjects that cover film, animation, photography, UX design, games design, AI, immersive technologies, and more, with students regularly collaborating with industry partners on live projects. The new building has a digital innovation lab, green screens, editing suites, screening space, a media gallery, and production, sound and music studios.
The Manchester Metropolitan University Business School is triple accredited. This achievement places us amongst the very best business schools in the world. These accreditations are, testament to our high standards of excellence in teaching and research. Courses are designed in line with industry needs, ensuring students graduate with the skills to succeed and that employers are looking for.
Manchester Metropolitan is ranked 54th in the Complete University Guide 2021 table. The result places Manchester Metropolitan 4th among the North West region’s universities.
Opening in January 2022, the Institute of Sport will be a centre for research, teaching and learning, bringing together world-leading researchers. It will include a state-of-the-art lab with imaging suite, altitude heat chamber, a muscle function lab, and MRI and bone density analysis capabilities. Researchers will work alongside the specialists at the Platt Lane Sports Complex in South Manchester.
The new building will provide new and improved study areas and catering facilities, as well as enhanced teaching spaces for the Faculty of Science and Engineering. It is due for completion in 2024.

The Student Union building has a café, shop for all students’ essentials and is home to the Finance Office and the Advice Centre. Experienced, trained staff in the Advice Centre offer specialist, student-centred advice on a whole range of issues such as funding and personal finance, general health and mental health, academic issues and accommodation.

Once at their accommodation, the Residential Life team have Residential Advisors providing students assistance through advice and support. Having welcomed international students for many years, the university has developed several specialist teams to provide them with the right support throughout their studies:
The Manchester Metropolitan security team is on campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week, offering crime prevention advice, patrolling the campus, investigating security concerns and responding to alarms and emergencies. Students can contact them for information and advice or to report concerning incidents.
The accommodation at the university has also been designed to provide students with a safe environment to live in.
Residential Advisors (RAs) are an in-house team of the second year, third year and postgraduate students who live in student accommodation. Their role is to offer support and advice on living in Manchester Metropolitan accommodation and information about accessing support across the university.
As part of this role, the RAs provide events to help students from across the Student Living complex to meet each other and make new friends. RAs can help resolve student queries, flatmate concerns, study issues, and much more.
The university offers a block insurance policy as part of student residency at Manchester Metropolitan University’s accommodation. This provides basic cover for personal possessions. If students would like to upgrade their insurance to cover more valuable items, they can extend the standard policy.
