The cost of a foundation programme at Loughborough University through ONCAMPUS depends on your chosen route and preferred intake.
As a guide, students should expect to pay between GBP 23,370 and GBP 29,290 in tuition for a programme in Business, Economics, Finance and Management, Humanities & Social Sciences, Life Sciences, and Art & Design if studying over two semesters. Courses in Engineering & Physical Sciences cost slightly more, between GBP 27,180 and GBP 33,100. These fees are subject to change and don’t include the GBP 450 registration fee and other fees.
Students on a foundation programme through ONCAMPUS won’t be eligible for the university’s scholarship awards, but there may be some scholarships and bursaries available to students should they progress on to an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the same university.
As part of their application, students will need to demonstrate proof of funding. Students may be able to find part-time work to fit around their studies once settled at the campus, to boost their finances.
The foundation programmes are designed for students who have completed a secondary school education in their home country. There are academic requirements for applying for a foundation programme at ONCAMPUS Loughborough, but these vary by country of study. Students are advised to check the requirements on the ONCAMPUS website to determine what they must achieve to apply.
Students must also be able to speak and understand English. For acceptance onto a two-semester programme, students must have an IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent, with no individual element below 5.0. The Pre-Master’s Programme requires a higher IELTS score of 5.5. Students who don’t meet these scores will be asked to choose a three-semester programme, which includes an initial semester of English study.
Students must have a passport and a valid visa for study in the UK (upon acceptance of an offer from ONCAMPUS). They will need proof of payment, or a letter showing sponsorship, and all original academic documents, including IELTS test scores and high school certificates.
Students will benefit from excellent facilities and supportive teaching staff during their foundation programme. Courses are designed for students who are not quite ready for direct application to university, and so they are structured in a way that is supportive and helps to bring students to the necessary level for progression to an undergraduate or postgraduate degree.
Teaching staff are adept at teaching complex subject matter in a way that is easy to understand, especially for those students who are also improving their English language comprehension alongside their studies.
All the degree options will include three academic subject modules, as well as English. English tuition is integrated into the academic subject teaching but is also provided as a separate module for students who need extra support. Students will be expected to do some of their own study around classroom hours, but help will be given to students to understand the requirements and help them adapt to UK university life and their next steps on a progression degree.
Students can choose from five different academic pathways for their foundation programme. A sixth option is the Pre-Master’s Programme, which covers broad subjects and is designed for students who are looking to move directly onto a postgraduate qualification upon completion. The five foundation pathways and their academic modules are as follows:
Business, Economics, Finance and Management
Engineering & Physical Sciences
Humanities & Social Sciences
Life Sciences
Art & Design
Contextual Studies
Modules are subject to availability and may vary for each course, while ensuring students are always assigned relevant modules for their chosen pathway.
