Brooklyn College was founded on May 15, 1930, by the Board of Higher Education of the City of New York as the first public liberal arts college. The college is located at the Midwood section of Brooklyn having a current enrollment of around 16,000.The College offers undergraduate and graduate majors, as well as advanced certificates and programs, in the humanities, sciences, performing arts, social sciences, education, and preprofessional and professional studies spanned across 3 academic divisions: the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the School of General Studies and the Division of Graduate Studies.
